WE NEED REFORM OF THE LAW SOCIETY, THE EGM BUT NOT DISSOLUTION
I think the call for a vote of NC is misguided, distracting and unnecessary and shows division.playing into graylings hands @FMStuckers
I am grateful that The Law Society has seen fit to engage me, a #NonLawyer in conversation, that is after some very interesting and enjoyable convos with @hudson_des and @fluck_nick. A first!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets hope it continues and that TLS finds it in themselves to engage with Non Lawyers as the sensible Save UK Justice, Justice Alliance, CBA does I believe to their credit and advantage. (New novel situations, new challenges , new love from us cuddly Non lawyers etc etc).
Obviously the real non Spoof Des Hudson and Nick Fluck read our Tweets and the Legal Community most particularly The Criminal Bar includes ME NON LAWYER it seems in the most radical far reaching way into it’s MEMBER ONLY EVENT/S in order to SAVE UK JUSTICE, the reason or ten being perhaps Non Lawyers like me who aim to provide sophisticated complex advanced help God helping to bring the Campaign forward.
NOT A LEADER PART OF THE LEADERSHIP OF SAVE UK JUSTICE IN IT’S MANY HIDDEN REDACTED PART BUT PLENTY OF MAD INITIATIVES BEING TAKEN!!!
From there it is not a huge leap to envisage the demise of the Law Society in its current structure, with City lawyers – or at least the finance directors of the leading global firms – potentially wryly chuckling at the prospect.
WHY WOULD WE WISH TO DESTROY THE LAW SOCIETY? THE LAW SOCIETY APPARENTLY IS THE GOOD GUY WITH CITY FIRMS HAPPY TO WITNESS IT’S DEMISE. SURELY REFORM IS THE WAY. GET RID OF FLUCK AND HUDSON, PUT NEW LEADERSHIP IN PLACE AND THE LAW SOCIETY ONCE MORE BECOMES A HAPPIER PLACE.
Crashing and burning on a profession-wide confidence vote could easily force the senior team to consider their positions. And high profile resignations might encourage the Government to listen to voices – not least coming from the Legal Services Board – backing further regulatory evolution of the profession
ONLY IF THEY HAVE BEEN NAUGHTY BOYS AND BEEN IN WITH GRAYLING MCNULTLY AND CO. THOSE NOT IN WITH GRAYLING, MCNULTY VARA ET AL. I PROPOSE THAT THE LAW SOCIETY AND THE EGM PARTICIPANTS TAKE A NOTE OUT OF THE @TheCriminalBar Associations NOTEBOOK AND LEARN TO ENGAGE THE ENEMY IN A MOJ FRIENDLY WAY GETTING RID OF #MOJWASTE ETC BUT FULLY AND COMPLETELY ABLE TO TAKE ACTION TO BRING THE COURTS TO A STANDSTILL .
Proposals for a single regulator, if implemented, are likely to result in the Law Society waving goodbye to its annual subsidy from the practising certificate fee – currently enshrined in section 51 of the Legal Services Act 2007 – with ministers telling those solicitors wanting a representative body to pay a separate membership tariff for the privilege. Even conservative estimates suggest that no more than half of practitioners would cough up, and unless the society were able to convince City practices that corporate membership was attractive, the end of Chancery Lane could be nigh.
THE POOR SODDING SOLICITORS WOULD LIKE THE CRIMINAL BAR ASSOCIATION UK TO REPRESENT THEM THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND THEY ARE REPRESENTIN’.
The reason City firms might not shed many tears at the prospect is that currently the Law Society gobbles up 27 per cent of the PC fee. Slashing that element of the cost of practice by more than a quarter could be hugely attractive – especially as many large firms take the view that the cheaper and more focused City of London Law Society already better caters to their representational needs.
DO WE REALLY WANT MULTIMILLION POUND GLOBAL CITY FIRMS RUBBING THEIR HANDS IN GLEE AT THE LAW SOCIETY’S DEMISE???!!!
via @TheLawSociety and @SocAsianLawyers and @SundeepBhatia2 with grattitude and thanks.
I had not realised it till now but I am the first ever Non Lawyer The Law Society has ever engaged with in the History of Save UK Justice. Fluck Nick and Hudson Des might have been preparatory for it. A Question to solve: Why would Fluck Nick accidently swallow me up (yawning) What am I doing right or wrong to warrant such attention?
I Kate Hillier as Non Lawyer on Save UK Justice, proud to be part of the Justice Alliance. Rejoicing to get my Marching Orders from the Criminal Bar Association via the Monday Message TOTALLY UTTERLY SUPPORT THE VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE IN FLUCK AND HUDSON AND I BELIEVE THE LAW SOCIETY LEADERSHIP IN HOCK TO GRAYLING ET AL.
IT IS MY SOLEMN AND RIGHTEOUS BELIEF THAT THE CBA LEAD THE WAY IN TERMS OF LAWFUL PROPORTIONATE AND CONSIDERED CAMPAIGNING THAT LEADS WITH JUDICIOUS DISSECTING ADVOCACY AND THUS AS A CAMPAIGNER AM RIGHTLY GUIDED.
I TOTALLY SUPPORT ACTIONS BY THE BAR TO DEFEND THE BAR AND WIDER LEGAL PROFESSION IN VERY DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES.
People getting me wrong read this and other blog posts and revise wrongly held views with immediate effect and give me a chance to show once more my campaigning colours.
Maybe I could blag a ticket me being accompanied by suitable Member of the Criminal Bar Association who may also have Law Soc Membership!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
